James Theodore “Doc” Brown, 56 of Savannah, Ga. and formerly from Allisonia, departed this life on Tuesday April 16, 2013. He was born Feb. 12, 1957 in Allisonia, the son of the late Theodore and Frances Safewright Brown. He was a member of the former Rich Hill Baptist Church, Allisonia, and he attended Pulaski County Public Schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Frances S. Brown; two sisters, Janet Darlene Brown and Hattie Louise Brown; maternal grandparents, Albert and Hattie Safewright Brown, and paternal grandparents, Robert and Annie Redd Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Cookie; three grandchildren; five sisters, Pamiler (Edward) Meadows, of Radford, Carolyn Thompson, of Pulaski, Tammy (Eric) Williams, of Roanoke, Daphne Howard, of Roanoke, and Diane (Willie) Williams, also of Roanoke; one brother, David Lee Brown, of Roanoke; one special, devoted uncle, Ed Brown, of Allisonia; one special aunt, Hazel Webb, of Pulaski, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, Pulaski. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Sharon Bower and Elder Douglas Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the Brown Family Cemetery in Allisonia.
