In celebration of Earth Day on Monday, April 22, Pulaski has two events that residents can participate in on Saturday, April 20.

Claytor Lake State Park is hosting a Stewardship Virginia Cluttered Cove Clean Up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will earn a certificate signed by the Governor to recognize them for their efforts to clean up the environment. Rubber gloves and trash bags will be provided and participants are asked to wear pants and closed toed shoes.

Stick around after the clean up to see which participants win a prize for the most treasured pieces of trash collected during the clean up. Participants will vote on the most unique and odd item of the day and see if we found any trash that can be recycled into something that is once again treasured. Call 540-643-2500 for more information.

The New River Trail State Park has teamed up with Wythe County Parks and Recreation to celebrate Earth Day. Rural Retreat Lake activities will include ranger-led hikes, tree studies, recycling, stewardship, insect studies, and games.

As the celebration winds down we will have a tree planting ceremony. For more information and directions please contact the park office or Wythe Co. Parks and Recreation at 276-223-6022.
