Dublin United Methodist Church will hold a special service of remembrance Sunday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. Ten years ago the church experienced two fires on April 7 and 28, 2003. The fires caused damage to much of the building and resulted in the building of a new educational wing and Family Life Center.
The church invites the public to join them in the service as the congregation remembers the difficulties caused by the fires and celebrates the blessings of the improvements made to the facility during reconstruction afterward.
The Reverend Mike Travis, who was pastor of the church during the fires, will be the guest preacher. A potluck luncheon in the Family Life Center will follow the service.
There will be displays available in the Family Life Center featuring items salvaged from the fires and pictures taken in the past of the church’s old Sunday school rooms and sanctuary.
The Reverend Kathy Wilson-Parker is the current pastor of Dublin United Methodist Church.
