RADFORD – Celene Honeycutt Gardner Sanders, age 91, of Radford, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, R.G. Gardner; her second husband, James X. Sanders; her parents, William A. and Nellie F. Honeycutt; two brothers, Bruce and William F. Honeycutt, and her sister Nell Jo Honeycutt Musgrove.
Mrs. Sanders was retired in 1982 from Radford University where she served as registrar for several years and later taught in the Business Department as an associate professor. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Radford, where she served as deacon and elder emeritus.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Janie and Timothy Dye of Ferrum, and Jean B. Sanders of Harrisburg, Pa. Celene is also survived by four grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Luke and Joseph Dye.
A private graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery in Pulaski. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Radford on Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. David Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
