Alice M. “Peggy” Morris

Alice M. “Peggy” Morris, 72, of Roanoke, formerly of Pulaski, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

She was born in Pulaski, daughter of the late Raby and Hattie Duncan Morris. Peggy served in the US Army as a nurse at the Walter Reed Army Hospital. She loved helping older people, and spent the remainder of her career providing care in both nursing homes and home health care.

She was an avid reader.

She is survived by her brother, Albert R. Morris Jr., and his wife, Mary; sisters, Darrel M. “Patsy” Harrell and her husband, Sam, Joyce M. Harrell and her husband, Robert (“Bobby”), all of Pulaski; five nieces, two nephews, and many other loving family members and friends.

At her request, there will be no public funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Unit (10 South) of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 13367, Roanoke, VA 24033.

    We are so sorry to hear about Peggy. Brenda called us today to tell us, and she is going to call us about the service for her. We will probably see you all there. We hadn’t seen Peggy since Jr,s mother died, but we thought of her often. Once again we are very sorry.She was a good cousin, and friend. Harry (Jr.), and Freda Edwards

    I’m sorry we never really got to spend as much time together as we should have but I will always remember and cherish the few we did have together. I will miss you mom.
