Pulaski Community Partners Coalition (PCPC) recently presented a donation to Hensel Eckman YMCA to assist the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support program, which is hosted by the “Y.”

The funds represented proceeds from PCPC’s Drug Free Community grant and will be used to help support the “Grandparents” program.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is a support group that allows grandparents who are raising grandchildren to come together and share the challenges and joys they face in raising their grandchildren. In addition to the support aspect of the program, PCPC and the YMCA also sponsor dinners and children’s activities for group members. The YMCA also provides activity passes and scholarship memberships to the “Y” for grandparents in need of assistance.

Participation in Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is free. The group meets at the YMCA the second Thursday of each month. For more information on how to join, contact New River Valley Agency on Aging at 980-7720.

Acting YMCA Director Dan Grubb said, “This is another way non-profit organizations are making a difference in Pulaski County.”
