Mary Alice Marshall, age 82, of Pulaski, passed away early Monday morning, March 11, 2013 at her residence.
She was born Sept. 26, 1930 in Carroll County, and was the daughter of the late Artie Jenkins Vass and Millard Montague (Monte) Vass. She was a member of First Christian Church (DOC), a graduate of Hillsville High School Class of 1947, and a 1951 graduate of Pulaski Hospital School of Nursing. In the field of nursing, she was able to provide her skills for a very long time, practicing in Carroll and Pulaski counties, having finished her career at Pulaski Community Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joe Bill (J.B.) Marshall; a sister, Carol Walker, and a brother, John Vass.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Jackie Marshall of Richmond, Ky.; granddaughters, Anna Grace Marshall of Richmond, Ky. and Alicia Mae Marshall of Lexington, Ky., and sisters, Opal Bruner of Burlington, N.C., Wynona Hill of Germanton, N.C. and Patsy Coulson of Radford.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2 p.m., at First Christian Church, (DOC) with the Rev. Randy Winn officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon until the service time, at the church. Burial will be in Hillsville at Worrell Cemetery Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Mary Alice was a loving mother, grandmother and wife, and will be deeply missed by all.
