Pulaski, VA. (March 25, 2013) — The Pulaski Mariners would like to welcome the new coaching staff for the 2013 season. Manager Chris Prieto will be joining the Mariners organization, after coaching in the San Diego Padres organization last season. Chris had been the hitting coach the past two seasons for the Eugene Emeralds. The Emeralds had the best record in the Northwest league for the past two seasons.
Prieto was drafted by the Padres in the 1993 First-Year Player Draft. Chris played 13 seasons in the minor leagues for six different organizations. In 2005 Chris was called up to the Majors with the Los Angeles Angels. In 2001 Chris was awarded the Mayors Trophy while with the Las Vegas 51’s, an award that is voted on every year by fans of the team. That season, Chris led the team in stolen bases, triples, walks, and was second in homeruns and doubles.
Nasusel Cabrera will return as the pitching coach for the upcoming season. This will be Nasusel’s seventh season in the Mariners organization and his fourth as the Latin America Pitching Coordinator. This will also make his fourth season with the Pulaski Mariners.
Scott Steinmann will serve as the hitting coach for 2013 Pulaski Mariners. This will make his 18th season in Seattle organization, but his first in Pulaski. Last year he was on the coaching staff of the AZL Mariners, and the year before he was the manager of the club. Steinmann was a catcher in the Mariners organization from 1996 – 1998.
