Robert Daniel Tolbert, 84, of Pulaski, passed away Thursday, Feb.14 at home. Dan was born in the Highland Community of Dublin on July 7, 1928 to the late Marvin and Daisy Vicker Tolbert.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Johnston and a brother, Gary Tolbert. He was a retired local dairy/beef farmer and a veteran of the United States Army, where he served during the Korean War. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Colene Robertson Tolbert, of Pulaski. They were a shining example of love and commitment to their family, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Cindy Tolbert; daughter, Patricia Tolbert Blevins; grandchildren, Matthew Tolbert, Martin Blevins and wife Mariah, Cassie Tolbert and Jacob Blevins; sister, Sally Bishop; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Kidd; niece, Bobbie Ann Simpkins and many other beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 1:30 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Teresa Tolbert officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:30 until the serivce hour. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Gardens, Dublin, with military graveside rites being conducted by Pulaski VFW Post 1184.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at WMUMC, care of Judy Howard, 3125 Schrader Hill Road, Pulaski, VA 24301.
