Graham Puckett Duncan Sr., age 71 of Hiwassee, departed this life peacefully on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. He was born Oct. 11, 1941. He is preceded in death by his son, Steven Duncan; parents, Grover and Mildred Duncan: brothers, Woodson, Ray, Elwood, Garnett, and sister, Maxine Mink.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Duncan; daughters and husbands, Tina and John Kellam, of Hiwassee; Buffie and Damon Banes of Pulaski: a son and his wife, Brett and Shannon Downey, of Pulaski: son and girlfriend, Joe Duncan and Deanie Hall, of Pulaski. He had seven beautiful special granddaughters, Racheal, Savanna, Sarah, Laural, Rebekah, Ruth and Brooklynn. Also surviving are his brothers and their wives, Chester and Rosetta Duncan, of Hiwassee; Earl (Chipper) and Frances Duncan, of Shiloh: sister, Mary Criner of Christiansburg, and an abundance of nieces and nephews, and a “whole mess” of very special friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, 7 p.m. at New River Valley Baptist Church, Snider Lane, Pulaski, with Pastor Jeff Aikens officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the church from 5 – 7 p.m. Following the service, the family will also receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church.
Graham had a great love for this country and for soldiers. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be mailed to his son, Joe Duncan, 2963 Duncan Lane, Hiwassee, VA 24347. The family will then send a donation to “Wounded Warrior Project” in his memory.
