MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Virginia State Police still don’t have a confirmed identity for a man who was killed on Interstate 81 Jan. 2.
“We could speculate on his identity, but it’s up to the medical examiner to make the official identification,” Sgt. Bob Carpentieri said of the man who was struck by at least two, and possibly three, vehicles at mile marker 108 near the Route 787 (Dry Valley Road) bridge overpass.
Carpentieri said authorities have been able to confirm that the victim was on the Dry Valley Road bridge at one point, but they have not been able to determine whether he fell or jumped off the bridge onto the interstate.
No one was injured in the vehicles that struck the man.
