Robert Samuel Black Sr. passed away Jan. 11, 2013 at the young age of 99. He was born in Pulaski, Aug. 11, 1913, the eldest son to Fred Black and Cordia Parker-Black. Known as “Daddy Bob” to most, he retired from Timken Roller Bearing, Columbus, Ohio and, after retirement, continued employment to the age of 90 with Excel Management, Columbus.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; stepfather, Perry Hunter of Pulaski; sisters, Thelma Stevens of Washington D.C., Elizabeth Beverly of Pulaski and Mattie Hash of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his brothers, Walter Hunter of Pulaski, Perry Hunter and children, and daughter Tanya Black and son Robert Black Jr. (survived by Joyce Black) of Columbus, Ohio.
He is survived by sisters, Virginia Hunter and Lillian Hunter of Pulaski. Also surviving are his daughter, Artelia Dryer of Institute, W.Va.; son, Thomas Lewis of Leavenworth Kan.; Barbara Black, mother of Robyn Black; sons, Bruce Black (Angie) and Anthony Black (Linda) of Columbus, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many extended family and friends.
Robert “Daddy Bob” will be laid to rest Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, 11 a.m. at Pinehurst Cemetery, 42 1st St NW, Pulaski. Friends and family may send flowers and condolences to Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
