A charge was filed, but no one was injured, in a two-vehicle wreck on Broad Street in Dublin Saturday.
Dublin Police Department Sgt. Marty Dowdy said the 12:38 p.m. wreck occurred when the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck overcorrected after a mirror on the truck sideswiped another vehicle.
Dowdy explained that the driver, Robert Lee Whitaker of Dublin, jerked the steering wheel too far in an attempt to pull away from the sideswiped vehicle, causing the pickup truck to crash head-on into a utility pole. Neither Whitaker nor David Luther Ingram of Dublin, the driver of the sideswiped 2000 Dodge pickup truck, was injured.
The Chevrolet pickup truck had to be towed from the scene and was most likely a total loss, according to Dowdy. The other truck only sustained scratches on the side and was able to be driven from the scene.
Dowdy said Whitaker was charged with failing to maintain proper control of a vehicle.
Dublin Volunteer Fire Department and American Electric Power responded to the wreck scene, near Charlie’s Market. The fire department cleared the scene just after 1 p.m.
