Franklin Junior Hughes

RURAL RETREAT – Franklin Junior Hughes, 73, of Rural Retreat, went to be with the angels Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Lilly Mae Hughes; three brothers, Otis, Arko and Thomas Hughes, and by a special chosen one, Linda Vandyke.  Mr. Hughes was born in Pulaski July 2, 1939. He served in the United States Army for 20 years as a dedicated soldier to our country and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, doing two tours of duty. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are children and spouses – Robin and William Stacey of Rogersville, Tenn., David and Roberta Hughes of Rural Retreat, Ronald Hughes of Rogersville, Tenn., and Rhonda and Anthony Wade of Rosedale; grandchildren, Adam and David Allen Burke, Caleb Hughes and Mark, Megan, Austin and Jason Wade; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers and sister, Ralph Hughes of Savannah, Ga., Joyce Hughes of Rural Retreat, J.R. Hughes of Winston-Salem, N.C.; special loved ones, Hazel Gibson, Leona Stiltner and Ashley, Kathleen and Amanda, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski. Visiting will be Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.  Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County, with full military graveside rites being conducted.
