Elizabeth Wimbrow Shockley

Elizabeth Wimbrow Shockley, age 95, of Pulaski, and formerly of Salisbury, Md., departed this life and was taken to her heavenly home, Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.

Born April 8, 1917 in Parksley, she was the daughter of the late Paul Godfrey Wimbrow and Elizabeth Dennis Wimbrow. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Everett Thomas Shockley; two sons, Everett Richard Shockley and Robert Wimbrow Shockley; one sister, Jean W. Scarborough, and one brother, John Paul Wimbrow.

She had been a resident of Salisbury, Md., until 1996 where she and her husband were involved in the  canning industry most of their lives. She was retired from the state of Maryland after being a housewife while raising their children.

Mrs. Shockley was always positive and always had a smile on her face and greeted everyone warmly. Those who knew her admired her spirit and loved her warmth.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers Kay Doyle, Lois Hubbard, Dreama Hoback, June Blake and Roberta Rollyson for their care and devotion provided in recent years, making it possible for her to be comfortable and remain at her home until her death.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Everett Parker Shockley and wife, Teresa Brewer Shockley, of Pulaski; five grandchildren, Robert Wimbrow Shockley Jr. and wife, Alice, of Poca, W.Va., Tracey Lynn Terry and husband, Mark, of Lake City, Fla., Everett Thomas Shockley II, of Dublin, Evan Russell Shockley, of Bel Air, Md., and Jordon Andrew Lee Morton, of Pulaski; step-grandchildren, Amber Nicole Whitman and husband, John, of Pulaski, and Cristin Michelle Watson and husband, Bruce, of Manassas; great-grandchildren, Letha Lenora Shockley, of Poca, W.Va., Roberta Wimbrow Shockley, of Poca, W.Va., Sadie Jo Whitman, of Pulaski, and Liam Watson, of Manassas, and sister, Mary Alice Puls, of Portland, Ore.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 21, 11 a.m., at Pulaski Church of God (The Refreshing Center), Bob White Blvd., Pulaski, with Pastor Jerry Collins officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 20, 5 to 7 p.m., at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, 1 p.m., at Parsons Cemetery, Salisbury, Md. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home.
