Dorothy “Dot” Butt Gress, age 90, of Pulaski, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 in the Continuous Care Adult Home in Christiansburg.
She was born Feb. 7, 1922 in Abingdon, and was the daughter of the late Daisy Wilson Butt and Oscar Lee Butt. Dot was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active with Circle #1 and the United Methodist Women. She was a kind and gracious southern lady, who never met a stranger and was loving and caring to all. She worked for Appalachian Power and Pulaski County School Board.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Timothy Gress; a daughter, Karen Gress Martin; sisters, Daisy Allen, Helen Butt and Vivian Butt, and a brother, Oscar L. Butt. She is survived by one son, Eric Timothy (Tim) Gress, and his wife, Tamara, of Dublin, and one grandson, Eric Paul Gress of Pulaski.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be anytime after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning and the family will receive friends from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral time.
