Fred J. Walters, age 74, of Pulaski, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012. He was born on June 1, 1938 in Montgomery County, son of the late Archie Allen Walters. Fred is a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Vietnam. He retired from the Virginia Carolina Freight Lines, with over a million miles safe driving record. He was also a member of Calvary Chapel in Dublin.
Fred is survived by his wife, Velma S. Walters; daughter, Lisa Hartsock, of Pulaski; granddaughter and spouse, Amber and Lucas Nester, of Dublin; special great-grandson, Justice Nester; sisters-in-law , Merry Stoots and Colleen and Herman Smith, all of Pulaski; brothers-in-law, Sherman Shockley, of Ohio and Fielding and Geneva Shockley of Lewisburg, WV. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at the Calvary Chapel in Dublin, with the Reverend James Alley officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
