Christmas, New Year closings announced

As the Christmas and New Year holidays approach, area banks, local schools, government offices and public service utilities have announced their planned closings for both occasions.

Pulaski County Administration, Town of Pulaski and Pulaski County PSA offices will all be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26 for the Christmas holiday. Those offices will also be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day.

The Town of Dublin offices will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26 for Christmas and will also close on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.

Pulaski Post Office will close at noon Dec. 24 and will remain closed Christmas day. The post office will also be closed on New Year’s Day.

Pulaski Area Transit will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 as well as Jan. 1.

Pulaski County Public Service Authority (PSA) has announced there will be garbage service on Monday, Dec. 24. There will be no garbage collection service on Christmas day, and all collection will be on a one-day delay schedule with Thursday and Friday’s garbage collection being picked up on Friday Dec. 28.

PSA will have a similar schedule the following week for observance of the New Year. There will be garbage collection on Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve), but there will be no garbage collection service on Tuesday, Jan. 1. The collection schedule will be on a one-day delay once again, with Thursday and Friday’s garbage collection being picked up on Friday, Jan. 4.

Holiday hours for the following banks have also been announced. National Bank of Blacksburg (NBB), BB&T, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Stellar One banks will close at 2 p.m. Dec. 24, remaining closed on Christmas day. This group of banks will operate on normal hours Dec. 31 but will be closed on Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day.

Carter Bank and Trust will close at 1 p.m. Dec. 24, remaining closed Christmas day. They will also close on Jan. 1.

Pulaski County Public School students were released  Dec. 18 and PCPS will be closed for winter break Dec. 19 through Jan. 1.
