If you want to see the home makeover of former Pulaski County High School graduate Mandy Byrd Watson, be sure to tune in to ABC Monday night.

The episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” featuring the home of the former Pulaski County resident will air 9-11 p.m. in a special Thanksgiving-themed event.

More than 4,000 volunteers and homebuilders turned out last January to raze the Watson’s old Knoxville, Tenn. home and rebuild a new one, along with two duplexes to help single mothers through their nonprofit organization, “The Restoration House of East Tennessee.”

Mandy Watson’s husband, Daniel, is a 1997 graduate of Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke. Ironically, the Tennessee contractor involved with the project, Grace Construction, is run by Radford natives Scott and Christi Branscom, but they and the Watsons had not met prior to the home makeover.

The Watsons were inspired to start Restoration House by their own histories as children of single mothers.

The non-profit organization supports low-income single mothers by providing transitional housing, team mentoring, family advocacy, financial counseling, educational opportunities, and other services.
