Michael R. Bourne

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Michael R. Bourne, of Knoxville, Tenn., departed this life Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Fort Sanders Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born in Pulaski, Va., to the union of the late William T. and Ruth Miller Bourne. He was educated in the public schools of Pulaski County, graduating from Pulaski High School Class of 1972. He was an intricate part of the family business, Jarnigan & Son Mortuary. Michael was formerly married to Brenda Bourne Thacker, and to this union two children were born, Miguel and Elizabeth Bourne. He was a member of Bethel AME Church.

Michael leaves to cherish fond memories a loving and devoted wife, Angela Lewis Bourne; loving children, Miguel and Elizabeth Bourne; a niece he raised as a daughter, Adrianne Thompson, and special son, Brian Buckmon; brothers, William (Joyce), Carl (Doris), and Beal (Peggy) Bourne; several aunts; loving and extended family, Annie Hicks, Tommy and Johnny Brown; several grandchildren; loving mother-in-law, Rosa L. Lewis; sister-in-law, Charlene Lewis, brother-in-law, Dwight, Carlton (Kennetha); Adrian Lewis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Bethel AME Church, Knoxville, Tenn. Family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 pm with services to follow with the Rev. Johnny R. Watson officiating. Entombment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The body will be available for viewing Sunday, Nov. 25, in Jarnigan Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Bethel AME Church’s building fund, P.O. Box 14667, Knoxville, TN 37914.
