Mary Louise Akers ‘Satch’ Jones

BARREN SPRINGS – Mary Louise Akers “Satch” Jones, 71, of Barren Springs died Tuesday morning, Nov. 24, 2012, in the LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski.

She was born in Wythe County Aug. 24, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Sherman Akers and Verna M. Arnold Akers. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Johnny Robert Jones of Barren Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Denise Jones of Hillsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Kevin Fisher of Draper, Darla Edens of Dublin, Melissa Farris of Barren Springs and Kelly and Joe Worrell of Barren Springs; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Stevens officiating. Visiting will be Saturday from the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Road S.W., Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24014 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.

    Dear Brother and Family, I too, an morning for the loss of Mary. I will always have a special place for her in my Heart. She provided for me when I stayed with you and her in North Carolina and I thank you and her for that.

    Your days will get better but you will always miss her. Stay close to each other and love each other.
