James Franklin Nuckols, age 75, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in New River Valley Medical Center.
Born Oct. 30, 1937 in Wythe County, he was the son of the late Claude Nuckols and Hazel Arnold Nuckols. His wife, Mary Yvonne “Bonnie” Blevins Nuckols; one sister, Mary; one brother, Edward “Bud,” and one granddaughter, Ashley Nuckols, also preceded him in death.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force. Mr. Nuckols was retired from Lanford Brothers Construction Co. as a bridge foreman. In retirement, he was a motor carrier for The Southwest Times and worked for GCA Services at TMD Friction. A carpenter by trade, he loved making things for his family and helping friends with different projects.
Surviving are his daughters, Mary White and husband, Richard, of Dublin, Teresa Nuckols and Belinda Nuckols, both of Dublin; grandchildren, JR Montgomery and wife, Ashley, Katie Quesenberry and husband, Scott, A’me Baber and Adam Baber; great-grandchildren, Cage Quesenberry, Delaney Montgomery and Bentley Quesenberry; two brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held today, Friday, Nov. 23, 7 p.m., at Dublin Church of God, with Pastor Michael Collins officiating. The family will receive friends today from 5 until service time at 7 p.m. at Dublin Church of God. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 9:30 p.m., at the Old Dublin Cemetery, with VFW Post 1184 conducting military honors.
