Gladys Marie Linkous Woodyard

Gladys Marie Linkous Woodyard, 87, of the Little Creek Community, Dublin, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at her home.

She was born April 5, 1925, the daughter of the late Richard and Josie Duncan Linkous. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Ray Woodyard; a son, Linkous Woodyard; a daughter, Mary E. Woodyard; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer V. Woodyard; three grandchildren, Timothy David Sadler, Eric Dewayne Woodyard, Richard Linkous Woodyard, and a great-grandchild, Tessa Nicole Woodyard.

She served the Lord by serving others and was a life long member of Alum Spring Holiness Church. The family wishes to thank Carilion Hospice for their care and comfort of their mother.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Cadle and Peggy Woodyard, Wayne and Bonnie Woodyard, Larry and Brenda Woodyard, Dublin; Donnie and Patty Woodyard, Pearisburg; Laura Woodyard, Swords Creek; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Darnell Wright, Sandra and Kenny Watson, Ethelene and David Sadler, Dublin; Greg and Anthony Woodyard who were raised by Gladys and Ray; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman, Donald and Clinton Linkous, and two sisters, Patricia Woodyard and Phyllis Kirk.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2 p.m., at Alum Spring Holiness Church, with the Rev. Tommy Ramsey and the Rev. Darnell Wright officiating. Burial will take place in Hunter Cemetery, Dublin. Visitation will be at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, today, Tuesday, Nov. 6, after 2 p.m.. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
