James Franklin Hylton, age 71, of Pulaski, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in LewisGale Hospital- Pulaski.
He was born May 28, 1941 in New Orleans, La. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollie Hylton and Evelyn King Hylton Baker; one grandson, Trevor Hylton, and sister, Mary Ann Lucas.
He was retired from Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Co. in Galax with over 20 years of service and a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Jean Powers Hylton, of Pulaski; sons, James Hylton and wife, Melissa, of Pulaski, and Jeffrey Hylton, of Pulaski; daughter, Lisa Michelle Hylton of Pulaski; seven grandchildren, Tara Cheyenne Richardson, James Franklin Hylton II, Ariel Paige Hylton, Percy Maurice Johnson II, Justin Wayne Hylton, Noah James Hylton and Anthony Scott Hylton; two great-grandchildren, Kylie Noveah Baylor and Kingsley Daequan Richardson; three sisters, Connie Sell, of Arkansas, Carol Boyd, of Shiloh, and Sue Almarode, of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, 1 p.m., in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski, with Pastor Jim Linkous officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to service time at Bower Funeral Home or any time at the home of his son, Jeff Hylton, 129 Pinnacle St., Pulaski.
Interment will be at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, with military honors conducted by Pulaski VFW Post 1184.
