Hazel Beatrice Pike Wassum

Hazel Beatrice Pike Wassum, age 95, of Pulaski, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion.

Born April 4, 1917 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Daniel Pike and Glenna Poole Pike. Her husband, Robert Conley Wassum; son, James “Jimmy” Stuart; daughter, Kay Baldwin and sister, Faye Akers, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wassum was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pulaski. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department and a former member of Ladies Rebecca Lodge 94, Pulaski.

Surviving are her daughter, Madelyn Rupe, of Loganville, Ga.; stepdaughter, Dorothy Cortner and husband, Edwin Dayton Cortner, of Marion; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until service hour at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.
