Goodwill Industries of the Valleys will hold a grand opening of its new Fairlawn retail store Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 8:45 a.m.

Construction on the new 11,500-square-foot facility at 7489 Lee Highway is expected to be complete late this month. Work began in May.

The existing store will close in early November to allow time to relocate merchandise and set up the new store in time for the grand opening.

The grand opening will include a tie-cutting ceremony.

The expansion will allow the store to offer customers “a greater selection of the high-quality, low cost furniture, books, household items, and clothing … they are used to shopping for in a Goodwill store.” There will also be increased parking and a drive-up donation center.

We are excited to relocate our store in Fairlawn to a more visible location. Customers will be offered a larger selection of merchandise and donating will be more convenient,” said Jerry Kite, senior vice president of donated goods. “The community will also be glad to know that they will be greeted by the same familiar faces in the new store.”

Kite pointed out the expansion also allows the store to hire four additional employees.

Following the grand opening tie-cutting ceremony, the store will open for business at 9 a.m. Nov. 14.

Store hours will be Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6.

All revenues generated at the store support Goodwill’s training and employment programs for youth, adults, and seniors with disabilities, disadvantages, and those who have lost their job due to company closing or layoff.
