A 29-year-old Pulaski man is being held in New River Valley Regional Jail after being arrested in connection with two assaults reported Aug. 11.
John Samuel Wall Sr. is charged with malicious wounding, two counts of assault and battery and damaging personal property in connection with incidents on Orchard Road.
Pulaski Police Department Officer Megan Jennings said Wall is alleged to have struck an Orchard Road resident in the forehead with an ax handle around 9:16 p.m. Aug. 11, then hit another person he encountered after leaving the residence.
Officer J.R. Reece, who responded to the call, was told by the first victim that Wall knocked on his door, asking to come inside with a companion. Jennings said Wall allegedly started arguing with the man and hit him with the ax handle when the man refused to allow them to enter.
Wall then left the property on foot, allegedly damaging the victim’s mailbox in the process. Jennings said Wall encountered another man along the road and allegedly “proceeded to start a confrontation” with that man “and then assaulted him.”
According to Jennings, the second victim “fought back in self-defense after being repeatedly struck about the head area.”
