Four men are being accused of taking part in a Monday evening attack that sent a man to the hospital.
Pulaski Police Department reports a man was leaving Meadowview Apartments after visiting with family members when a group of people attacked him around 8:22 p.m.
Cpl. Wes Ratcliff responded to the report of a large fight in progress and spoke with the victim, who was transported to LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski, said Officer Megan Jennings.
After the victim was taken from the scene, Jennings said, witnesses approached Ratcliff and indicated eight to nine males had approached the victim from behind and “repeatedly beat him in the face, head, and other parts of his body.” She said witnesses also reported the man was beaten with a skateboard.
Witnesses identified Michael Edwards, 18, of Pulaski, as one of the suspects, according to Jennings. He is charged with assault and battery and is being held at New River Valley Regional Jail in lieu of $2,500 secured bond.
Police said others charged with assault and battery are Matthew Edwards, 19, of Dublin, Thomas Turpin, 22, of Dublin, and Kristopher Knode, 37, of Pulaski. Turpin also faces a charge of malicious wounding.
Although a warrant has been issued, Jennings said Knode has not yet been arrested.
The victim’s condition was not available.
