James R. “Buddy” Ratcliffe Sr.

James R. “Buddy” Ratcliffe Sr., age 76, of Pulaski, died Saturday morning July 21, 2012 at his residence.

He was born June 28, 1936 in Pulaski, and was the son of the late Mozell King Ratcliffe and Dennis L. Ratcliffe. Buddy was a retired career firefighter with Radford City Fire Department with 21 years of service and three years of service to Pulaski Fire Department. He attended Trinity Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Ratcliffe, and two brothers, Winifred Ratcliffe and Rodney D. Ratcliffe.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Spangler Ratcliffe; his former wife, Paddy Sisk Ratcliffe; five daughters, Judy Jones and her husband, Emory, Patricia Rupe and her husband, Michael, Kathy Farris and her husband, Kenny, Sharon Burke, and Ansie Burnette and her husband, Richard; two step-children, Robert (Bobby) Easter and Teri Easter Brown and her husband, David, all of Pulaski; four sisters, Louise Hagee of Pulaski, Linda Kinser and her husband, Sterling, of Pulaski, Dreama Whitaker and her husband, Milford, of Greensboro, N.C., and the Rev. Judy Gregory of Pulaski; one sister-in-law, Betty D. Ratcliffe of Morgantown, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Michael Rupe and his wife, Laura, of Knoxville, Tenn., Jamie Rupe and his wife, Heather, of Pulaski, Cecil Allen Thompson of Pulaski, Chastity Lawson and her husband, Mark, of Radford, Chris Farris and his wife, August, of Pulaski, Delisha East and her husband, Dusty, of Pulaski, Demitria Altizer and her husband, Barry, of Draper, Crystal Mines and her husband, Steve, of Max Meadows, Chad Jones of Pulaski and Robert (Justice) Easter of Pulaski; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces nephews, and his two special buddies, Lucy and Muggs.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home, with the Revs. Johnny Howlett and Dwight Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, where members of Radford Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home, from noon until the 2 p.m. service time.

    Carolyn,

    You are in my prayers for comfort in this time of grief. I am sorry for our loss, but I feel the arms of God are around you. You and your faamily will be inour prayers. May the arm of the Lord sustain you throughout these days of adjustment and concern.

    My thoughts & prayers are with the family,may GOD ease the pain of your loss.Buddy,Rodney & me had some wonderful times at the Rockhouse fishing,memories I will cherish forever. GOD BLESS YOU
