Ernestine Rice “Granny” Garwood, 97, of Pulaski, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, in LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski.
Mrs. Garwood loved all her family and God. She was always giving and will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Garwood was a member of Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church, Pulaski.
She was born in Franklin County Nov. 1, 1914 and was the daughter of the late Silas Preston Rice and Josephine Fuller Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Omar Elkin Garwood; son, Richard Wayne Garwood Sr.; grandson, Richard Wayne Garwood Jr.; brother, Wilbur Rice; two sisters, Agnes Taylor and Ruby Hamilton and her husband, Ed; son-in-law, Harley Covey, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Garwood.
Surviving are daughter, Dorothy G. Covey; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Glenna Garwood and Robert Garwood; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and John Boundrant and Mildred Farris; brothers, Preston Rice and Benjamine Rice; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Dawn Garwood; many loving nieces and nephews, and special caregiver, Annette.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 10 a.m., at Stevens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Judy Yonce officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be Friday at Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends 6–8 p.m.
