Sherman Hollandsworth Blankenship, 73, of Draper died Monday morning, March 5, 2012, at his home.
He was born in West Virginia April 5, 1938, and was the son of the late James Sherman Blankenship and Josephine Macy H. Farley. He was a retired employee of Volvo, Dublin. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Dona Blankenship of Draper; daughter, Macy Shrader of Narrows; sons, James Blankenship of Draper and Alexander Matthew Blankenship of Dublin; sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Wilfred Overton of Draper; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Debbie Farley of Christiansburg; 10 half-brother’s and half-sisters, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Wilfred Overton and Danny Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Christian Church Cemetery, Draper. Visiting will be Wednesday evening from the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Road, SW, Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24014.

Dear Aunt Dona and family, We were sad to hear Uncle Sherm had passed away. We enjoyed the times you all could come to the family reunions. Praying for you all as you go through the next days, weeks and months. May God wrap his loving arms around you and give you comfort as well as many wonderful memories.

Dona and Family,
I saw Sherman and the whole family for many years at Dr. Haller’s Office and have great memories of the whole family. I know you must miss Sherman greatly, and know how sorry I am to hear of his passing.
