James “Pete” Wesley Fields, age 54, of Pulaski, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012, at LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski.
He was born May 6, 1957 in Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his father, James Raymond Fields.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Campbell Fields; his wife, Dreama Branscome Fields; two daughters, Candi Yates (Nick) and Audrey Fields; one brother, Don (Peggy) Fields; one sister, Cheryl Morris, and three grandchildren, Brooke, MacKenzie, and MaKenna.
James was a graduate of Pulaski County High School. He was employed for 32 years as a park ranger for the Department of Conservation and Recreation, most recently working at Claytor Lake State Park. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to read and work crossword puzzles.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m., at Community Christian Church in Newbern, with the Rev. Ernie Depew officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 p.m. until the service hour. Entombment will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, at Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Newbern Youth Expansion in care of Community Christian Church, 5382 Grace St. Dublin, VA 24084.
The family will be at 5109 Wilderness Road, Newbern.
