A fire that started in cardboard boxes, spread to a truck and building at Imperial Group Tuesday night, causing about $75,000 in damage.

Dublin Fire Chief Ronnie McClure said Dublin and Newbern fire departments responded to the fire, in Pulaski County Corporate Center, around 7:55 p.m.

He said a fire started in cardboard boxes that were outside the building and used to store fuel tanks. The blaze then spread to a tractor-trailer truck parked beside the boxes and at a loading dock before spreading into the loading area of the building.

McClure estimated damage to the truck and its contents at about $60,000 and about $15,000 damage to the building.

Newbern Fire Department responded with one piece of equipment and eight firefighters, while Dublin had three pieces of equipment and 12 firefighters.

REMSI and a backhoe provided by Pulaski County assisted, along with a Texas truck driver, who moved the trailers away from the building.

The fire departments were back in service at 11:30 p.m.
