Today is that extra day Leap Year gives us on the calendar, an extra 24 hours. 1,440 minutes and 86,400 seconds.
Since given this time due to wise men from yore that devised calendars, will you make wise use of this time?
Or will you do as most people, simply take it in stride, squander it and go on as if noting unusual has been handed out?
People get a year older every 12 months, but there are those able to celebrate a birthday once every four years. Do you know anyone in that situation? Are you one of them?
Do your thoughts forward to March? Will it come in like a lion or a lamb? Will it leave us differently than the way it came in?
Will March be one of our winter months and bring cold, snowy, rainy, windy weather?
A popular saying of the past was “go fly a kite” and fly it in March winds. Since youngsters of today know little about flying kites, perhaps in warmer days parents should take them out and teach them.
Ben Franklin would be proud of them since he is so identified with kite flying, lightning and electricity. Remember the pictures of the be-speckled Franklin holding the string to his kite on which a key was hung?
Time remains to make good use of the extra hours, minutes and seconds given this Leap Year.
Don’t let them go to waste. Give a smile, an encouraging word, and a pat on the back, a cheerful hello and how do you do.
Hold a door for someone, be more courteous, particularly when on the road and in checkout lines.
Use your time any day more wisely and smile, it makes folks wonder what you are up to!
