Marilyn Kay Stuart Baldwin, age 68, of Narrows, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.
Born Dec. 16, 1943 in Pulaski, she is the daughter of Hazel Pike Wassum. She is preceded in death by her father, James Stanley Stuart Sr.; brother, James Stanley Stuart Jr., and stepfather, Robert C. Wassum.
Marilyn retired from being the owner of Marine Fueling Co. and had previously worked in Lynchburg as director of quality assurance and research and development for the company that produced ChapStick. She was a consultant, managed the biology lab at Hollins University and worked for Hercules Inc., as well as Virginia Tech.
She is survived by her husband, John D. Baldwin Stuart; mother, Hazel Pike Wassum, Pulaski; son, Charles Edward Comer, of Dublin; sister, Madelyn S. Rupe, Loganville, Ga.; stepsister and husband, Dorothy W. and Dayton Courtner, Marion; niece, Janet S. Harris, Roanoke; nephews, Joseph Scott Stuart, Boston, Mass., and Gary Rupe, Loganville, Ga., and many loving cousins and extended family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. McCoy, Dr. Smusz and all the staff at Carilion Hospice and Caregivers for the Heart of Virginia.
