RADFORD – For the first time in a month the Bobcats will play at Bobcat Stadium this Friday. They will host the Cougars of Patrick County (0-4) and will go for their second consecutive win.
Patrick County is coached by Brad Dalton, who along with the team, will be making his first trip to Radford. The Cougars will play a 3-5-3 defense.
“They like to send their linebackers and play a three deep zone,” said Radford coach Matthew Saunders.
“Offensively they like to run right at you. They line up in two tights and will also run out of double wing formations. Their quarterback is real quick and the fullback is tough, he likes to run the belly series,” Saunders said.
Radford comes into the game with three players recovering from concussions. Those players are running back Isaiah Carter, linebacker Eric Benitez and lineman Shaquille Saunders. All three will see action this Friday.
Radford’s starting offensive lineup will probably be center senior Tim Cox. The two tackles are junior Jordan Wesley and senior D’Vanre Edwards. Guards are junior Justin Bland and sophomore Cody Morgan.
Hunter Marshall a junior is the quarterback along with senior Cory Dark, sophomore Rasheed (R.J.) Jordan and senior Hunter Griffitts are the running backs.
The wide receivers will be seniors Timmy Worles and Dashon Devore. William Minter, Isaiah Carter, Jordan Alexander and Andrew Mitchell will all see some action.
Defensively, the Bobcats will go with seniors Alan O’Berry and Shaquille Saunders at tackles. Seniors Deion Baylor and Trey Frank at defensive ends.
The linebackers should be sophomore Eric Benitez, junior Hunter Marshall and senior Hunter Griffitts. The cornerbacks are seniors Worles and Devore, while senior Cory Dark and junior William Minter are the safeties. Kickoff is slated for 7
