Fort Chiswell to host Marion

Fort Chiswell-The Pioneers will try to get on the winning side this Friday as they host the Scarlet Hurricanes of Marion.
Marion (1-1) comes into the contest, beating Northwood last week 51-0. Their running back, Ethan Richardson ran for 138 yards and scored five touchdowns.
Quarterback Marshall Wagnor threw for 190 yards on eight of eleven passes, and rushed for 57.
Pioneer Coach Stephen James had this to say about Marion, “ Defensively they will line up with five down linemen , with two linebackers and they seldom blitz. Their five two alignment is a lot like that of John Battle , a team we faced in the benefit game.
Fort Chiswell (0-2) will see a variety of formations from Marion, under first year head coach Joey Carroll. Coach James said, “ Marion will run the spread offense and at times will go no huddle. They will have four receivers and only one back, and at other times they will show you only three receivers.
Fort Chiswel came out last Friday in pretty good shape physically , Danial Hamm has a twisted ankle and Trey Jackson is still playing with a cast on one hand. That cast may be removed next week after seeing the doctor.
Coach James remarked, “ We must limit our turnovers and block better up front. We need to be mentally tougher and recover better when something bad happens or goes against us.”
Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 at Fort Chiswell High School.
