GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The Pulaski bats were steady and Mayckol Guaipe tossed six strong innings to lead Pulaski to a 12-2 victory over Greeneville on Sunday at Pioneer Park.
Pulaski (30-36) wasted no time, working in a run in each of the first three innings to take an early 3-0 lead. The Astros (25-41) broke through with a run in the fourth.
The Mariners responded with a seven-run effort in the fifth inning, sparked by Guillermo Pimentel’s leadoff homer and Jordy Lara’s two-RBI double to extend their lead to 10-1.
Pulaski went on to add two more runs over the next two frames on Tyler Marlette’s RBI double in the sixth and Efrain Nunez’s run scored in the seventh to make it a 12-1 game.
Greeneville managed a run in its half of the seventh, but was sat down in order over the final two frames by Pulaski’s Jeremy Dobbs to seal the Mariners’ Appalachian League win in the first of the final three-game set of the season.
