NORTON, VA – Tony Glen “Perk” Dye, 62, died Saturday, Feb.19, at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem. Born in Dorchester, VA, he was a son of the late Robert Roy Dye and Grace Hall Dye. Tony was a 1966 graduate of J.J. Kelly High School where he played both football and baseball for the Indians.
He was heavy equipment operator and mechanic for many years. “Perk” was a founding member of the Warlords Motorcycle Club in Norton in 1974, and currently was Sergeant-at-Arms of the Southwest Virginia Chapter of the Pagan Nation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Pettit Dye, and a sister, Mollie Stidham.
Surviving are his daughters and their husbands, Tami and Scott Jordan, Wise, and Vickie and Keith Wilhoit, Ashboro, N.C.; his brothers and their wives, Tim and Kathy Dye, Pulaski, and Terry and Verina Dye, Norton; his grandchildren, Noah Cain Jordan and Joshua Wilson Wilhoit; special friend, Kathy Mullins; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday at the Hagy and Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Allen Culbertson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home, 956 Park Ave., Norton is serving the Dye family.
