Mattie Gaynell Skeens Wimmer

Mattie Gaynell Skeens Wimmer, 86, of Fairlawn passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Pulaski Health Care Center.
Born June 3, 1924 in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jefferson Skeens and Mary Magdaline Fogleman Skeens. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Sara Dishner Skeens; one brother, Stanley Skeens; and four sisters, Bessie Skeens, Florence Skeens Chester, June Skeens Isaacs, and Jean Skeens Owen.
She was retired from RAAP with 38 years of service and was a member of the Dublin Baptist Church.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law David and Nancy Early of Dublin; two grandchildren, Michael C. Early of Salem and Donna Tabor and husband, Denny Tabor of Newbern, two special great grandchildren, Rachel and Kendra Tabor of Newbern; sister Margaret Skeens Overbay of Salem; two brothers, Dale Skeens and wife Billie Skeens of Dublin, Harry Skeens and wife, Mary Ann Skeens of Chester; sister-in-law Doris Wimmer of Norfolk; brother-in-law Jimmy Wimmer and wife, Grace Wimmer of Shawsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the Dublin Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
