Robert E. Lee Jones, also known by “Shorty,” “Little Red” and “Poppy,” 86, of Pulaski, passes away peacefully at his home Saturday, June 26, 2010.
Born in Wythe County Dec. 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Betty Elizabeth Fotner and James Herman Jones. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by his two wives Mildred Six Jones and Edith Davis Jones. Also by several children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. He was a retired employee of both Pulaski Furniture and Coleman Furniture and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Surviving are his children and in-laws Jimmy and Cynthia Davis, Vickie and Perry Gray, Cookie Johnston and Debbie Prim. Sisters and brothers-in-law Alice and Guy Nelson and Margaret Jones. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special friends, Trista and Susie.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Haynes and Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be Monday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. The family wishes to thank the Good Samaritan Hospice for their care of Mr. Jones and for those who wish to send memorials to them at 125 E.
