Lawrence Alfred Tickle

Lawrence Alfred Tickle, 92, of Dublin, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. He will be loved and missed greatly, but knowing Jesus has his arms wrapped around him gives us strength and eases our sorrows. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII, giving his all so we all could live in a free country. He was retired from Harris Mechanical Plumbing and Heating. He was born June 24, 1917 in Dublin, the son of the late William James Houston and Addie Thomas Kimbleton Tickle. He was preceded in death by five brothers Cecil, Martin, Jess, Leonard and Frank and six sisters Allie, Ula Mae, Agnes, Alma, Lucille and Helen. Survivors include his wife Edythe Marie Quesenberry Tickle of Dublin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Benny and Connie Tickle, Tony and Diane Tickle, and Billy Tickle, all of Dublin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Alice K. (Bowers) and Lou Altes of Pulaski, Rebecca Ann and Danny Hamilton of Parrott, and Shelba J. and Walter Akers of Draper; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor O. D. Morgan and Pastor Brian Cockram officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
