Roland Edward Cole, age 71 of 613 Newbern Road, Pulaski passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his home.
Born April 13, 1939 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late William Lawrence Cole and Blanche Kanode Cole. His son, Roland Jay Cole, and Sisters, Virginia Bailey, Faye Owens, Mary Cress and Betty Donithan also preceded him in death.
He was the owner of Roland’s Heating & Air in Pulaski and had worked for many years with Air Control Corporation. He was a retired Infantry Staff Sergeant with the Army National Guard with over 20 years of service. Roland was also a volunteer fireman with the Pulaski Fire Department for 40 years where he held the position as Lieutenant. His nickname was “Speedy” within the fire department.
He was a member of the Draper’s Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church. Roland was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sylvia Johnston Cole, Pulaski; children, Margaret and Freddie Cox, Pulaski, Carol and David Duncan, Hiwassee, William Cole, Pulaski, Brian and Karen Cole, Pulaski, David Cole; and special friend, Teresa Ayers, Pulaski; Mary and Jeff Riddle, Pulaski; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Ellen Farmer, Pulaski.
Funeral services will be held Sunday 2 p.m. in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Mike Ingo officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski with full military honors conducted at the gravesite by the Pulaski VFW Post 1184.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Bower Funeral Home.
