Debra Mechelle Payton

God called our Debbie home on Thursday, May 6, 2010. She was predeceased by her mother , Ethel Austin. Born Debra Mechelle Hall in Charleroi, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1955. She met Lamont Payton in Newark, NJ and they were married in Pulaski, VA at First Baptist Church on May 13, 2000. Debbie is survived by her husband, Lamont; sons, Dean Anthony and Matthew Lamont; father, Willie Lee Hall Jr.; sisters, Charleen Bannerman, Phyllis Smith, Carolyn Hall, Pamela Green and Karen Austin; brothers, Mark Hall, Grant Austin and Willie Lee Hall, III; five grandchildren, a close friend Anita Manns, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Debbie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pulaski, VA where she served as treasurer of the Usher Board and sang in the United Voices Choir. Debbie recently completed her nursing care training with AmeriCare Plus where she became certified as a Personal Care Aide. Debbie found great comfort in caring for the elderly. Debra could always be counted on to serve her church family and help anyone in need. She loved fishing and her family loved her cooking, especially her lasagna and macaroni and cheese; her favorite pastime was watching football, and if you really knew her, you knew how passionate she was about her New England Patriots. Anyone knowing Debbie knew how much she truly loved and cherished her family. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Words can’t even begin to express how much her family will miss her. God has truly picked a special flower for his garden.
