On May 8, Clara Belle Kelly, 94, of Dublin fulfilled her yearning to ‘go home’ and was reunited with her long-absent family just in time for Mother’s Day.
Clara Belle was born January 17, 1916 in Wytheville, VA, the daughter of the late George Grant Baumgardner and Emma Belle Buck. Also preceding her in death were her husband, the Rev. M.D. Kelly; daughter Trula Grace Harrell; and sons, Stanley Royce Kelly and Malcolm Douglas Kelly. Clara Belle was bright, personable and plucky, a lady who loved life and people, many of whom were recipients of her afghans, quilts, and baby sweaters. She was a gifted seamstress, and her life bore the delicate stitchings of God’s grace: threads of joy and kindness and humility. She is survived by a son, Stuart Kelly and wife, Martha; four grandchildren, Amy Hall, Melissa Jackson, Noelle Edwards, and Anna Kelly, and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to the Ministry of World Vision. Donations may be made online or mailed to World Vision, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063-9716.
You are invited to share your Clara Belle stories with the family on Wednesday, May 12, 6-8 p.m. and to join them in a service of worship and remembrance Thursday, May 13, 11 a.m. The Rev. Edward Wood and the Rev. Donald Sizemore will lead the service. Both events will be at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
