Pulaski County School Board member Warren J. "Jeff" Bain will be the presiding president at this year’s National School Boards Association (NSBA) Southern Region Conference.
Bain, who represents the Massie District, also is president of Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA).
The NSBA Southern Region Conference is an annual conference that is hosted by a different state each year. VSBA will be the host for the Southern Region Conference, so Bain, and as president of the VSBA, will also preside over the Southern Region Conference.
This year’s Southern Region Conference will be held July 11-13 at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg.
The 12 states that make up the southern region are: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The purpose of the annual meeting is to promote public education and school board services, as well as exchange information regarding public school policies, education advances, school management and related issues among the twelve states.
VSBA is a voluntary, self-supporting and nonpartisan organization whose primary mission is the advancement of education through the unique American tradition of local citizen control of, and accountability for, the Commonwealth‚’s public schools. The mission of the VSBA is to provide member boards with services, training and advocacy so that they may exercise leadership in public school governance on behalf of public education for all the children of the Commonwealth.
