Jackie Eldridge “Pete” Whitaker, 67, of 1170 Floyd Lane, Pulaski died Thursday night April 22, 2010 in the Pulaski Community Hospital following a long illness.
He was born March 11, 1943 in McDowell County, W.Va. and was the son of the late Charles Whitaker and Ollie Turner Whitaker. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Rev. Seagle Spence, by brothers Charles (Punk), Eugene, Leonard and Frankie (Sug) Whitaker, and a daughter Missy Whitaker. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are wife Barbara Whitaker; son Jamie Whitaker,; step-sons Patrick McNamara and Frank McNamara; grandsons J.J. Whitaker, Walker Whitaker and Scotty Jones; sister Betty Bowles; brothers Bud Whitaker and Don Whitaker; two beloved dogs Sassy and Scooby; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Hufford Cemetery, Pulaski County with Rev. Randall Lawrence officiating. Pulaski VFW Post #1184 will conduct the military graveside rites. The family will receive friends Sunday at Stevens Funeral Home from noon until 1:30 p.m.
