Erma Jean Stamper Crockett

Erma Jean Stamper Crockett, age 78 of Draper, departed this life to begin her eternal reign in Heaven on Monday, April 12, 2010, with her family by her side.
She was born June 3, 1931 in McDowell, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Atha V. Stamper Dalton and Lillard McCoy Stamper. Erma was a charter member of the Delton Church of God of Prophecy since it’s inception on August 22, 1954, and served in numerous offices over the last 55 years. On Aug. 30, 1947, she married Thomas Murphy Crockett. Born to this union of love were three children, which she so lovingly nurtured. She loved and cared for her family so tenderly throughout the years and continued her unconditional love until the end. Erma will be sadly missed, but cherished memories of her will be shared forever by all who knew her, loved and cared for her. Erma, being the very special person she was, will leave an emptiness in all our hearts, but we know that she will suffer no more. Her courageous battle is won. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers James Willard Stamper, Earl McCoy Stamper, and Bobby Ralph Stamper; and two sisters Bracel Stamper Coe and Ernavee Stamper.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, best friend and soul mate of 63 years the Rev. Thomas Murphy Crockett of Draper; one son Thomas Eugene Crockett and his wife Linda of Wytheville; two daughters Bobbie Crockett-King and her husband Leland of Pulaski, and Patricia Crockett Angle and her husband Douglas of Draper; a step-brother Oscar Lee Dalton, Jr. and his wife Stella of Pulaski; five grandchildren, Thomas Bradley Crockett, Alison Crockett Irvin (Levi), Bobbi Jeanne “B.J.” Crockett Angle (Jamie), Adam Howard King (Cassandra), Laura Lee Crockett Angle, and Carol S. Crockett; three great grandchildren Thomas Matthew Crockett, Devin Hunter Irvin and Alexis Cheyanne Irvin. Several nieces and nephews, two aunts and two sisters-in-law also survive.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny McGlothlin, the Rev. Diane Stanley and Pastor Garnett Byrd officiating. Interment will be held privately Saturday in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will also be meeting at other times at Erma and Murphy’s home on New River at 4292 Clark Ferry Road in Draper.
