James Monroe Hanks

James Monroe Hanks, called by Gene or Pepper, age 86, went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Pulaski Community Hospital. He was retired from R.A.A.P. after 20 years of service. Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Bell Hanks, by a granddaughter Alice Mae Wade, by a son-in-law George Owens. He was also preceded by a brother Lonnie Hanks, by 3 step-brothers Arnold, Malvin and Fizer Frazier, by sisters Stella Chandler, Ethel Burcham and Marie Crowder.
He was a member of the Peak Creek Mission of Prayer, Pulaski. Surviving are: Left to cherish his memory – Daughters & Sons-In-Law – Mae & Raymond Chinault, Wanda & Bobby Southern, Jo Ann Owens; 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; 1 Precious Little Friend – Kiwi Goodson; Brothers & Sisters-in-Law – Luther & Louise Hanks; Dennis & Marie Hanks; Donald & Fern Hanks; Sisters & Brothers-In-Law – Elene Pope, Katherine & Kyle Frazier, Myrtle & Russsell Bridge.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dale Akers and the Rev. Randall Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Saturday from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the Peak Creek Mission of Prayer, Case Knife Rd., Pulaski, VA 24301.
