Dublin resident wins newspaper’s Super contest

The winner of the Super Sunday Southwest Times giveaway was Lana Goodman of Locust Drive in Dublin. Mrs. Goodman was able to correctly guess the combined total points scored in Sunday’s game, according to publisher Jim Perry.
Despite the snowstorm, literally dozens entries were received last week by readers entering The Southwest Times “Super Contest” which ended Saturday. Contestants were to guess the final score of last Sunday’s game between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts.
As millions watched, the final score of the most popular televised football game of the year became history: Colts 17, Saints 31.
The Southwest Times readers competed for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate from MK’s Pizzeria on State Park Road near Dublin and a free oil change from Automotive Excellence, located at 1002 East Main Street in Pulaski. The winner also receives a large pizza from Joe’s Pizzeria, 1048 Memorial Drive in Pulaski and a $20 gas card.
Of all the entries received, no one guessed the final score of the game. However, the rules stated that if no one could correctly guess the final score then the winner would be the person who came closest to the combined total points scored by the two teams which was 48 points.
Mrs. Goodman had the only entry with the exact total of 48 points, she is our winner. “I don’t even remember what I put down,” she said. “I knew I should enter the contest, but I just guessed at a score.”
“We want to thank all the sponsors and participants,” Perry said. “We had a good response. Thanks to everyone for supporting our local advertisers,” he said.
